Jacque Digieso was born in a military family and has lived in many places around the world. She has been married to Joe for over fifty years. They have two sons,two daughters-in-law and five beautiful grandchildren. She attended Agnes Scott College, University of Kentucky, Georgia State University, University of Georgia and Century University, earning her Ph.D in 2000.
Jacque always wanted to be a teacher and landed her first teaching job in 1968. Her journey led her from teaching English, Speech and Drama to specializing in teaching students with unique learning styles. She and her husband founded The Cottage School specifically to provide an environment where these students could thrive. It has grown into an award winning educational program for students with learning differences and was featured in the magazine, Southern Living, in 1997.
Since moving to Atlanta in 1974, Jacque has been active in her church community, recognized as an educational innovator and has held several board of director’s positions. In 2003 Jacque travelled to Japan as a Fulbright Scholar. She has served as president of the Atlanta Area Association for Independent Schools, president of both Roswell East and Roswell Rotary Club, president of Georgia Association of Schools for Exceptional Children, and is active in Friends of Bulloch. Among the many honors she has received, she has been recognized as a Woman of Distinction, Phenomenal Woman, and Atlanta Business Chronicle Woman of the Year. Jacque has also been a presenter at National and international conferences on a wide variety of topics related to educational models, socialization and research on adolescence and learning. In 2007. she and Joe won the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Small Business Persons of the Year.
Jacque retired in 2015. She and Joe recently published a book on The Cottage School model and are working on a second book celebrating the extraordinary students and staff with whom they’ve partnered along the way.
